Carry-on Baggage Allowance
The carry-on allowance is limited to one personal item for Blue Basic fares purchased after 2/25/21 for travel on or after 7/20/21. Passengers who buy a Blue Basic ticket but reserve an Even More Space seat will still be allowed to bring a carry-on bag with them.
The carry-on limit comprises one personal item and one carry-on bag for Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and Mint tickets.
Carry-on Baggage Policy
Each passenger can bring one carry-on bag and one small personal item onboard the aeroplane (briefcase, purse, laptop, etc.). Both must fit in the overhead bin or beneath the seat in front of you because of size limits.
The carry-on bag must meet the following size requirements to fit in the overhead bin or beneath the seat in front of you: 22 inches long (55.88 centimetres), 14 inches wide (35.56 centimetres), and 9 inches tall (22.86 cm).
If a Blue Basic client brings a carry-on bag (other than a personal item) to the gate, it must be checked, and will you will be charged the following fees:
- For a first or second checked luggage, you will pay $65.
- For a third checked bag, you’ll have to pay an additional $180.

When flying JetBlue, your item must be no more than 17 inches (43.2 centimetres) long, 13 inches (33 centimetres) wide, and 8 inches (20.32 centimetres) high to fit beneath the seat in front of you. The weight of carry-on luggage is currently unrestricted on JetBlue Airways. You should, however, be able to deposit your belongings in the overhead bin on your own.
A pet carrier counts as a carry-on bag if you’re flying with your pet. In addition to the carry-on allowance, you may bring mobility or assistance equipment on board.
Checked Baggage
Free Checked Baggage Allowance
Any checked bag included in the free baggage allowance has a weight restriction of 50 pounds (22.68 kg) and a maximum size limit of 62 inches (157.48 cm). The number of checked bags included in the free baggage allowance is determined by the ticket purchased:

The following items are allowed to be checked for free and do not count towards the checked baggage allowance:
- One stroller and one car seat
- Assistive mobility equipment
Checked Baggage Policy
At a JetBlue Remote Check-in facility or the airport, you may check your luggage. You may check your luggage at the specified bag drop site if you checked in online. You may also inspect and tag your luggage while utilizing a kiosk to check in. When asked whether you’re checking bags at the booth, say yes, input the number of bags, get your boarding card and bag tags, and walk over to the bag drop area.
When checking your luggage at New York JFK International Airport’s curbside, you will be charged a $3 cost per bag. At the curb, you may only pay with credit or debit cards (tipping is optional but appreciated).
Time Limits
JetBlue Airways will not accept checked luggage if received more than 6 hours before your planned departure time. All checked baggage must arrive at the airport within the following time limits:
- Forty minutes before departure for domestic flights.
- Sixty minutes before departure for international flights.

JetBlue Restriction on Size and Weight
A checked bag that meets the following size and weight limitations will not be deemed oversized or overweight luggage, and hence will not be charged the related fees:

JetBlue Airways will refuse any piece of luggage that exceeds the following limits:
- Size: 80 linear inches (203.3 linear cm)
- Weight: 99-pound weight (44.91 kg)
JetBlue Airways will not accept more than two checked bags per person on flights to/from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, or Trinidad & Tobago, nor oversized or overweight luggage. Maximum two checked baggage per passenger are permitted to fly to/from Lima, Peru, with each checked bag weighing no more than 70 pounds (31.8 kg). Baggage that exceeds the size and weight limitations may incur oversize/overweight charges. On International flights with JetBlue Airways, boxes will not be accepted as checked luggage.
JetBlue Baggage Service
It’s crucial to file a baggage claim with a JetBlue crew member at the airport in the event of delayed or damaged baggage. If you have already departed the airport, you must contact the JetBlue Baggage Service Office within 4 hours after your arrival. Following this initial notice, JetBlue Airways must receive a confirmation written information of any baggage-related claim within 21 days of the event.
The following baggage claim deadlines apply to foreign travel:
- If your checked luggage arrives damaged, you must notify the airline in writing within seven days after receiving it.
- If your checked luggage is delayed or lost, you must notify the airline in writing within 21 days after the date it was or should have been returned to you.
